Re-signing quarterback Alex Smith appears likely. Smith accepted the Associated Press’ coach of the year award on Jim Harbaugh’s behalf Saturday, the latest indication Smith remains firmly in the fold.

Cornerback Carlos Rogers has said he wants to return. His value spiked after earning a trip to the Pro Bowl.

Re-sign running back Marshawn Lynch and defensive end Red Bryant.

Lynch’s agent of record, Mike Sullivan, recently took a job with the Denver Broncos. That would not affect negotiations as much if Lynch remained with Octagon Worldwide. The agent game can be an unpredictable one, however. That is something to file away.

Bryant has said he strongly wants to re-sign with Seattle.

I’m not sure any of them qualify as players the Rams absolutely must bring back, particularly with a new coach and new schemes on both sides of the ball.

Receiver Brandon Lloyd would help fill a need, but at what price? Would he fit as well in a new offense after producing at disproportionate levels to this point when paired with former coordinator Josh McDaniels, now in New England?

The charts below cover the Arizona Cardinals’ free agents. The final column shows what each player’s previous contract averaged annually.

Re-signing defensive end Calais Campbell will be a top priority.
